The book is a memoir of a former child soldier. Prior to reading this book I’ve only known of child soldier as child who got drafted by the rebel to fight with them. Brainwashed and basically surviving the only way they know how. I was partially correct, because there are child soldiers from both the ‘good guy’ and the ‘bad guy’.
I got a glimpse of what it was like to be child soldier, and how their childhood was robbed from them. I got a glimpse of what the actual war was like, not the ones we saw on TV. And how the writer is able to rise from it all and try to live a ‘normal’ live. It’s quite an eye-opening… or mind-opening rather.
It’s a little bit of a dark read, but great read.
