The Mysterious Affair at Styles is supposed to be the first Hercule Poirot series. There are like hundreds of them by now. I don’t really feel it that way, and I don’t see an indication of how. As in there was no indication in the story line about this. I mean it doesn’t affect the story whatsoever, but being a noob in Agatha Christie book, I’d like to know more about how Hercule Poirot come about kind of thing.
Well like the title indicated, the story is set in Styles, and an affair is involved. A recently married, rich older women with her young husband, her extended family and ‘family’, in her mansion. It’s always a mansion eh!
I still enjoy Hercule Poirot book, but probably need to space them out a little bit. Given that I was stuck without internet for 2 weeks, and my e-reader is packed with Agatha Christie collection, I didn’t’ have much choice.
What did I tell ya? I’m kinda hooked on Agatha Christie now. The fact that it’s murder mystery, AND it’s short! average of 200pgs on my e-reader.
So this time, the setting is somewhere in the Middle East. At an anthropological dig. And the characters are the anthropologist, photographer, priest, and the wives, and a couple more people that live in and/or around the residence. The story is sort of written from a point of view of a nurse.
To be honest this is the first Agatha Christie book I’ve ever read. I came across a bunch of Agatha Christie Collection epub version. So this is definitely not gona be the last novel of hers I’ll read.
Anyway, this book, of course is detective, murder mystery and all that jazz. This particular story involves a rich, older inventor, and his extended family, in his mansion. Oh, and there’s a butler too. That’s all I’ve got to say.
I’m officially a fan of Agatha Christie btw.
