Olay ProX (cheaper version of Clarisonic Mia)

Olay

Okay, first of all, I have never purchase/use Clarisonic Aria. I did, however, touched the brush, and it was soft, like you wouldn’t believe. In fact there were at least 3 brushes, if I remember correctly. Even the ‘regular’ brush was very soft. HOWEVER, at $200 it is a little bit on a high end for me. There were some promotional package with Sephora might include face care product of SKII or other expensive brands, which I think is worth it, if you want to buy the Clarisonic anyway.
I felt that my skin was so dull and just feel the need for some kind of something to refresh my skin, and going to facial is quite a lux for me, hence I was soooo very tempted to get the Clarisonic.  I figure it’s an investment. I was reading the reviews, but they’re very different from one person to the other. The reviews were to the extreme. Customer either LOVE it and swear by it or got quite a severe breakout and cant use it at all. That got me doubting. IF I cant use it at all, that’ll be $200 down the rain… plus tax.

THEN I came across another version of Clarisonic. Ar $30+ tax, I got a device, batteries, 2 set of brush (daily and microdermabrasion) and 2 sets of cleanser. I cant compare it with Clarisonic, obviously, since I didn’t own one, but the Olay ProX works super fine for me. Felt my skin soooo much cleaner after usage. I use a different combination of skin care, though. At the moment I was trying out Lancome bienfeit, for hydration.

I started with using the ProX daily, but afraid that it will dry my already dry skin. After about 2 weeks, I use it every other day. I use Aveeno ultra-calming foaming soap instead of the one tat came with the device. I think that one is too strong for me. I do use the microdermabrasion one that come with the packaging, as directed on the box, once a week.

If you want to give any of device a try, I would recommend the ProX since Clarisonic cost 4x more. Unless of course if you want to collect the Sephora points and whatnot. Get that VIB status that much sooner..

Anyhow, that’s my 2-cents…

Sephora Haul & Samples

So I went to Sephora to get a lipstick for my mom. A friend of mine is going back to Indonesia, thought I get her an early birthday present (trying to find something light, so I don’t impose) And since it’s so tiny I said i don’t need a bag. But then I saw a ziploc baggy behind the counter. So I thought I’ll ask for that instead just to preserve the state of the tiny box of lipstick. I pointed at it and asked the lady, “Can I get that bag?”
She was like “sure” then proceeded to get a plastic bag, with pouch in it and then the ziploc which turned out to contain some samples.
I was surprised and tried to explain myself, I was like, oh I only asked for the plastic bag.
Either she didn’t hear me/understand me, or I don’t know what, but she wouldn’t really take back what she already said so I can only say thank you.
Then I went home, turns out they’re samples for the VIB Rouge…
Oh well, every so often you get lucky for being an ESL person… Hehehehhe….

Tax Seasons and Tax Refunds Splurge

For most of people that I know, this is the busiest season at work. Be it RRSP (in financial industry) or in Accounting. Well I’m in neither and I’m quite busy. Mostly with students asking for their T2202A forms, eventhough we have mailed them out like end of January.

For me, I am looking forward to my tax return (at least for this year and most probably next year). I know for sure I will get a handsome amount of return, since I have a humongous amount of tuition credit. Yes, I am one of those lucky people whose parents paid for their education. AND technically the refunds belong to my parents, but they don’t live here, so they’re mine. I promised I’ll buy them something very very nice. =D

So these were what I acquired recently…

  1. Camera
So, I have decided to spend a decent amount of it on my new camera, and a couple of other things that is associated with me purchasing that camera. Yea didn’t think of all these things prior to getting the camera, since the camera itself is already a huge chunk of the cost… Shoulda coulda woulda…. Anyway, the cost so far cover the camera, memory card and bag…. Couple more things that I definitely need like the lens scratch prevention thingy is one of them.
  2. BSB Concert in May!!
Another one of my big spending is Backstreet Boys Concert!! I have been a fan since they first came out in 1996. Man that was a loooong time ago…
I kinda stop following any news about them sometimes in 2006. In parts probably because they kind of broke apart or something and became a quartet. Partially probably because I grew up too…

When I decided to go to the concert with a couple of my friends, I thought it would be something like a reminiscing kind of thing. Well, there would probably still reminisce part about it, but after further ‘investigation’ the concert is actually a promotion of their new album… which I have never heard of… and also, apparently they had like 3 albums after 2006… Where have I been all this time? I shouldn’t call myself a fan I guess…. =P

So anyway, I listened to their new album, and I like it. Still the flavour of the old BSB, but more mature. Well considering their youngest member is now 34 yo… (holy crap!) they better be at least a little bit more mature. To quote my bf, “It’s actually quite nice to see a boyband who can grow facial hair”. ROFL

  3. Eat at Fancy Restaurant
Well, I’m not quite referring to 5-Michelin Star Restaurant or something… Just a good cozy romantic dinner…. Bf bought a Blue Man Group show, he said cuz he got some extra cash from work. And I figure I’ll ‘balance’ it with a nice dinner prior to the show. ^.^
  4. SAVE SAVE SAVE and SAVE
So the last thing that I am going to do with the HUGE chunk of my tax refund is to chuck it into my TFSA account. OF course I will not forget to save. I’m old enough to know that and actually do it. I still have enough room for TFSA this year and coincidentally any new deposit into ING ( I mean Tangerine) TFSA account by 30 March will earn a decent 2.5% interest until April 30. So, it’s a no-brainer for me at the moment.

My New Camera – exploring the photography world… ^.^

cameraSo as you might have known, and notice from my want list, probably, I’ve gotten myself a brand spanking new camera, and a dSLR. I was holding off all this time (been wanting to get it since I was in Singapore, about 5 years ago) because I didn’t think I’d have the time to go out and actually use it. And it was bulky, to tote around for a normal outing with friends. So now, my point of shoot camera was about 6-7 years old, I have more time to go out and take pictures, have a little bit of extra money (upcoming decent amount of tax refund) to spend and save, of course, and Canon came up with the world’s smallest dSLR (to date). It’s like the universe is conspiring to make me buy the Camera. Yea, no. I just want to buy the camera….
There were a couple of option on how I’d spend the tax refund. One of them was buying a diamond necklace. Or a super-expensive bag of some-sort. But I guess that wasn’t quite me. So camera it is. And there was some kind of deal on best buy, that was going on for 3 days or so.

What’s more, this deal includes Canon’s newest lens. I’m not entirely sure of the specification/usage of it, but I know they’re good for day-to-day photography, which is what I am aiming for. And also, this lens is FLAT. They call it the ‘pancake’ lens. Can you imagine the size of it now. So the smallest dSLR and the flat lens. That’s like one of my top criteria. So, again, the universe. *wink wink* Oh and I got it through Ebates. 1% rebate.. >.< NOT a lot, but hey, again, better than nothing.

But anyhow, I’ve taken a  couple of pictures from my balcony so far, and I gotta say I’m pretty satisfied with the purchase. And Summer is around the corner, weather is gona get better, if anything else, Spring is already here, and I see Cherry Blossom everywhere in West End. *woot woot*. EGGCITED!

Travel Hair Dryer from Sephora is Awesome

hairdryerI recently (by recent I mean about 1-2 month ago) broke my hair dryer. The one that I always bring to gym. And or travel. You can still turn them on, but the fan thingy just wouldn’t work anymore. So it’s essentially useless. I got that one for $20. Lasted for about 1 year or so.

I didn’t want to lug around my ‘giant’ hair dryer to gym. It’s so not good for my back carrying heavy stuff (not just the dryer. Everything adds up.

I was looking at some stuff at Sephora, and I came across this hair dryer. ON SALE! Essentially half off. SO I ordered one. The review was good AND I agree. It’s so tiny, but fit well in my hands, and it packs a punch! I have ALOT of hairs on my head and it dries them fast! Considering I have less than 30 min to shower and dry my hair (and everything else a girl usually do after shower) after gym class, this one works miracle!

Sephora Order!!

SephoraFINALLY! Fina-freaking-Ly they arrive. I was so anxious waiting for it. I mean I know it’ll take a while, but I mean, not THIS while. haizzz…. So I finally got my $9 hair dryer (say what…) for gym/travel. And I got my eye cream. It cost a dubloon but took me 2 years to finish the last one. So, it’s still good. And my a giant size of Shea butter hand cream, which I’m gona leave in the office. It’s right in front of my eyes. I WILL use it eventually. and I do need my hand cream.

Did u see the rest of the item though? a bag full of perfume sampler, and your usual 3 sample per order from Sephora, of course. *woot woot* I’ll be smelling very nice for the next few weeks… =P

And don’t forget, I also got 5% rebate on this from e-bates.ca.
